The landscape of education is ever-evolving, and with it so is the makeup of our classrooms. Students arrive with unique strengths and challenges across both academic and non-academic areas. As we become more aware of the neurodiversity within our schools, educators carry a responsibility to meet the needs of all learners. In this workshop, participants step into the daily experiences of students who face challenges with reading and listening comprehension, written expression, attention, and executive function. Through a series of hands-on simulations, educators don’t just hear about these struggles; they feel them. This perspective sparks empathy and awareness, laying the groundwork for lasting change in how we teach and support diverse learners.
What makes this workshop distinct is the direct bridge between empathy and practice. After each simulation, participants debrief and connect the experience to specific strategies they can use right away. From simple no-tech approaches to high-tech accessibility tools, educators leave with actionable tools across reading, writing, listening, attention, and executive function. By pairing lived perspective with practical strategies, this experience equips teachers to create classrooms where every student feels understood, supported, and capable of success.
